In analysis of epic texts, we encounter the special role-playing of some animals in epic breeding; sometimes this role-playing is positive and totemic, and sometimes it is negative and evil. Just like the wolf that has a positive image by itself in some world myths and epics, and some others not so. In Shahnameh, the role-playing of the wolf often is negative. In this article we tried to analyze Ferdowsi's negative viewpoint about the wolf by the text analyzing method. The results show that the main reason of showing a negative and evil image of the wolf in Shahnameh is the devil presence of the wolf in religious texts of ancient Iran in which killing it was enumerated as positive and awarded actions. Another reason is the Turanians and Turks uniting by Ferdowsi in Shahnameh. Therefore, speaking about Turanians, Ferdowsi resembles them the wolf, and uses the negative characteristics of this animal to describe them.
