This article analyzes and examines the humor techniques employed by "Najaf Daryabandari" in his book, "Chenin Konand Bozorgan". Written in a narrative prose style, the book introduces notable historical figures and critiques their lives and behaviors through a humorous lens. The humor found in the book was analyzed using the General Theory of Verbal Humor, which consists of six knowledge resources: Script Opposition, Logical Mechanism, Target, Situation, Narrative Strategy, and Language. This research focused on three of these resources: Script Opposition, Logical Mechanism, and Target. The main question was: based on this theory, what techniques did Daryabandari use to create humor? The findings show that out of 74 instances of humor, all but three lacked a specific target. Additionally, the analysis of the twelve logical mechanisms used revealed that Meta-Humor, Misleading Interpretation, and Concurrence were the most frequently employed. The findings of this study indicate that the General Theory of Verbal Humor (GTVH) is a suitable framework for examining and analyzing the techniques of creating humor in Persian texts.
