Mohiyeddin Arabi is one of the greatest religious figures who has been called the father of Islamic mysticism. He died in b 3 8 A . H. and had a tremendous influence on the mystics of his time . Although he was Sunni, his works reflect his Shiite outlooks, for instance, he has frequently referred to Shiite Imams and their leadership (Imamate) in his book "F otouhat-e Makkiyah".
