Satirists employ a variety of techniques to express humor and critique, not as a result of personal bias but rather as outcomes of their critical perspective toward various social irregularities, in the hope of fostering reform. Techniques such as wit, burlesque, parody, humor, shahr-ashub (urban disorder), jokes, and lampoon rely on critical thinking and are shaped around the literary-cultural meaning-making of laughter in relation to diverse social contexts and situations. Saeed Biabanki, a contemporary Iranian satirical poet, employs multiple methods to articulate satirical concepts. This study, adopting a descriptive-analytical approach, examines the satirical strategies in Biabanki’s humorous poetry. The findings indicate that, influenced by political, social, and cultural developments, he has crafted a unique blend of satire through the use of simile-based humor, shahr-ashub, sarcasm, parody, burlesque, grotesque, and verbal humor. By employing these techniques, he juxtaposes contradictory and heterogeneous elements in unusual, ugly, ridiculous, repulsive, and frightening forms, creating a cohesive whole that reflects the dual tragicomic nature of life.
