Jealousy is one of the negative and unpleasant feelings that an imperfect person may experience during his life, and the most damage is done to the envious or jealous person. An envious person is someone who wants the blessings from the owner to decline. Envy is one of the types of morally reprehensible traits that have been reflected in the Persian language and literature since long ago, and Iranian poets and writers, as moral people and in the position of teachers of humanity, have taken advantage of this keyword and tried to enumerate its bad effects. Molana is one of the people who, in the position of a thoughtful teacher, in the 7th century, addressed this feature. On the other hand, the science of psychology, which is related to the virtues, vices, excesses and shortcomings of human behavior, has shown a lot of attention to this category. Alfred Adler, a famous psychiatrist, is also one of the experts who has left valuable works in this regard. In a descriptive-analytical way and with an interdisciplinary approach, this article evaluates the opinions of Rumi and Adler, as two experts who have paid attention to this category in different places and times. From the findings of this research, we can point to the common belief of these two in the root of jealousy, which is the feeling of inferiority.
