Dimensional Analysis of Aesthetics of Mystical Words: A Case Study of Rhyming Prose in Letters by Ein al-Qozzat

Abstract

Expression of any type of meaning requires its specific form and wording. For instance, the language of poetry cannot express the concepts and contents related to a prose. Therefore, it is quite essential to select the type of expression based on the intentions and aims of writing. Rhythmic and rhyming prose as an independent type of expression in Persian language and literature was widely used for the first time in mystic texts. The present paper aims at discovering the reason why this type of expression is selected in mystic texts, especially in the letters by Ein al-Qozzat Hamedani. In fact, this study investigates into stylistic features of a rhyming prose in terms of wording, meaning, fitness of the said two elements, the subject and literary aspect of the words in these letters, which are reviewed and analyzed based on the features of this type of expression using library research method. The results show that case use of rhyming prose affects the reader/audience the most. This type of prose can play a major role in order to create a connection between the mystic and devotee. What prevents the author from using rhyming prose in all his writings is dispersion of the accumulate materials in his mind.
