Abstract

Feministic criticism is one of the standard contemporary approaches that opposes to the way that female characters are presented in the literature. A female character in the works of male writers usually conforms to the views of a male-dominant culture, which follows the stereotypical molds in which the character is analyzed, and indicates that the author's expecta• tions of the. character are usually minimal and secondary to the dominant male. Female characters in Bijan Najdi's stories could be explored by the following perspectives: (1) Their major or minor role in the stories. (2) their simple/ sophisticated or static/ dynamic roles (3) The effect of their . role in the formation of events in the story. on these grounds, stories of the collection of his 30 short stories are briefly criticized.
