Poets use colours to create poetic images and to express their Ideas, but their manner of utilizing colours and how much each poet pays attention to colors are different from one to another. Literary critics have paid little attention to the role of colours in literary works, meanwhile, study of colour use in literary works can help scholars to recognize poets' styles more clearly.In this article, an attempt has been made to introduce some of Hafez's specific manners of colour use in poetry. The focus of the article is on the ways by which Hafez's poems are defferenciated from the others. Some samples of Hafez's verses, dealt with in this article, show how Hafez makes his readers · visualize certain colours through special arrangement of words and how he colours his poetic images through using ambiguity or associations.
