Abstract

In this article, conceptual metaphors centered on "knowledge" in the works of Ahmad Jam Namaghi have been investigated in order to determine the way of using conceptual metaphor and its functions in relation to the conceptualization of "knowledge" and also to reveal which of the conceptual metaphors Ahmed Jam used to explain knowledge. It has been used more. For this purpose, macro-metaphors of knowledge and related sub-metaphors were extracted and their graphs were drawn to objectify the discussion. After analysis and investigation, the authors have shown that the basis of the metaphors of knowledge in Ahmad Jam's works are three big metaphors: "Knowledge is material", "Knowledge is a container" and "Knowledge is human". Sheikh Jam has also shown that because the complex concept of knowledge to make it tangible, simple and understandable and to show its functions such as annihilation, mastery and purification, etc., the macro metaphor "Knowledge is like matter" and its related sub-metaphors have been helped more than other metaphors. Also, the authors have shown that Ahmad Jam's mystical teachings about knowledge revolve around a few limited functions such as annihilation, submission, mastery, and unrecognizability. The origin of the presence of these functions is Ahmad Jam's opinion about God. He considers knowledge and God as one Another result of this research is that Ahmad Jam's religious and Quranic perspective and his relationship with the court have been influential in the way of using the metaphors of knowledge and its function and embodying the concept of knowledge.
