The Azarbayjani Style in the Persian Poetry

Abstract

Categorization of literary styles on geographical basis is a form employed by Iranian stylists; like Khorasani or Iraki styles. Due to the geographical as well as temporal scopes, such categorizations themselves were subdivided to smaller categories, which should be introduced. Some of the well-known poets in Iraki style innovated a new style in Iran which is known as the Azarbayjani style. However, this style is taken as a form of the lraki style. The pioneer of this style was Abuala-ye Ganjavi whose literary characteristics a.re manifested in his works. Two of his students namely Khaghani and Falaki as well as one of Khaghani s students, Mojireddin-e Beylaghani, in Shervan, and Nezami-ye Ganjavi, in Ganje, flourished the style. In addition to these poets, Ghavami-ye Ganjavi, Ezzeddin-e Shervani, Seyyed Zolfaghar-e Shervani created works in this style. The objective of this paper is to introduce the main features of this style as well as the differences existing between this style and the others.
