The artilleryman is a Kinsman of the Toopchi Bashof family in Ganja. He was educated in Tiblisi and knew Persian, Arabic, Russian, Turkish, Georgian, and Aremenian . For a while, he was the head of the Persian Language and Literature Department at Petersburg University and made a significant contribution to the education of generation of eminent Rus- sian Iranologists. His acquaintance with xojko And visiting the Polish poet meskowich through xojko led to his first versed translation of meskowich poems into Persian.
