Since Idioms and proverbs represent culture, animal idioms and proverbs in both English and Persian were collected from authoritative dictionaries, and, native speakers were asked to determine the connotation of each one to see whether it is positive, negative or neutral. It was found that the differences between these two languages on the part of idioms and proverbs are negligible and it is a strong support for the weak version of the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis}, keywords = {Sapir-Whorf hypothesis- Linguistic relativism,Linguistic determinism- Proverbs}, title_fa = {نظریه سپیر -ورف و اصطلاحات و ضرب المثلهای فارسی و انگلیسی}, abstract_fa = {مقاله حاضر سعی بر آن دارد تا نظریه جبر زبانی سپیر - ورف را در سایه اصطلاحات و ضرب المثلهای فارسی و انگلیسی مورد تجزیه و تحلیل قرار دهد. از آنجائیکه اصطلاحات و ضرب المثلها ریشه در فرهنگ یک کشور دارد و می توانند بیانگر تفکر یک کشور باشند، از اینرو اصطلاحات و ضرب المثلهای فارسی و انگلیسی مربوط به حیوانات از منابع موثق جمع آوری شده سپس از سخنگویان بومی دو زبان خواسته شد تا بار معنایی اصطلاحات و ضرب المثلها را مشخص نمایند. یافته ها حکایت از تفاوت ناچیز میان این دو گروه از عبارات داشت که صحه بر نظریه نسبیت و نه جبر زبانی می گذارد.}, keywords_fa = {نظریه سپیر-ورف,ضرب المثل}, url = {https://ltr.atu.ac.ir/article_6704.html}, eprint = {https://ltr.atu.ac.ir/article_6704_02f7643361789dbcdc6b7aa0eed191bc.pdf} }
